Find your way around Settings
Search, You and Studio, saving, and the setup checklist.
Written By Julia M.
Settings is where you shape Workroom to the way your studio works. This article covers how to find any setting, what is yours and what is the studio's, how saving works, and where to start if you are new.
Watch it: the Settings lesson in Campus, step 1, “Find your way around Settings” (2:12). Each section below names its chapter.
Searching settings
Watch it: step 1, chapter 1, “Searching settings” (starts at 0:11).

The quickest way to any setting is the search box at the top of Settings. Type what you are after in your own words.
Search looks through every page, every setting and every line of helper text. It knows the old names too, so "Money" or "WIP" still find their way. Pick a result and Settings opens that page with the setting highlighted.
You and Studio
Watch it: step 1, chapter 2, “You and Studio” (starts at 0:37).

Settings is split in two.
You: Your profile, notifications, hours and time away, connected accounts, shortcuts; who sees it: everyone, for themselves
Studio: Settings for the whole studio, then a page for each module in sidebar order; who sees it: admins and the owner
Every section says how far it reaches:
Studio-wide means everyone.
Each project can change this means it is a starting point, and a project can override it.
Saving and undoing
Watch it: step 1, chapter 3, “Saving and undoing” (starts at 1:11).

Change anything and the bar at the bottom says you have unsaved changes. Save keeps them. Discard puts everything back.
If you try to leave a page with changes you have not saved, Settings asks first, so nothing is lost by accident.
A few things save the moment you do them, like portal access and integrations. Those say Saves right away.
Every page has a Learn how to set this up button. It opens the matching lesson, right at the part you need.
The setup checklist
Watch it: step 1, chapter 4, “The setup checklist” (starts at 1:47).

New to Workroom? Start with Setup checklist, at the top of the Studio side. It walks through everything a studio needs, in order.
Each step opens the page that does it, and it is ticked off once you save there. Skip anything you do not use. The recommended settings work as they are.
