Mood — Complete Guide
Written By Timothy Murenzi
Mood is your moodboard and client-presentation studio, built into Workroom. Design boards on an open canvas, drop in real products, present to clients with live approvals, and turn an approved board straight into an estimate or invoice.
What makes Mood different: the board is the spec. Products you place aren't just pictures — they're live line items with cost, price, lead time and availability. A beautiful board is also a working document.

What Mood is for
Concept and presentation boards to show clients.
Finish schedules and spec sheets that double as the source of your estimate.
Product sourcing — from your Library or anything you find online.
Client sign-off — share a link and let clients comment and approve item by item.
The board library
Click Mood in the left sidebar under Content.

+ New board (top right) creates a board and opens it.
Search boards… searches board and page names.
All / Assigned / Unassigned filter by whether a board is linked to a project.
Trash (n) holds deleted boards — restore or permanently delete them there.
Each card shows a live thumbnail, the board's status (e.g. DRAFT), its project or folder, when it was last edited, and duplicate and delete icons. Duplicates are named "… (Copy)".
Folders and projects
Folders — the bar under the search shows All boards, Unfiled and your folders (each with a colour and count). Click + New folder to make one, then drag boards into it. Rename, recolour or delete folders at any time.
Assign to a project — links the board to a project. The product picker then shows only that project's products, and estimates or invoices you create attach to the right client automatically. Leave a board unassigned to browse your whole catalog.
The editor at a glance

Canvas — an open, pannable space that holds every page as a labelled, numbered frame.
Left rail — Templates, Elements, Text, Uploads, Brand kit and Background.
Top bar — board name, Saved indicator, undo/redo, Focus board (⌘/Ctrl + .), zoom, Export, page size (e.g. 1280×720), Scale, Spec, Comments, History, Collaborate and Share.
Page rail (bottom) — every page with arrows to reorder, plus duplicate and delete icons, and + Page.
Inspector — appears on the right when something is selected; edit its properties there.
Everything saves automatically — watch for the Saved badge next to the board name.
Moving around the canvas
Zoom — scroll wheel or trackpad pinch (anchored at your cursor), or the − / + buttons in the top bar. The ⤢ button fits the board to the screen.
Pan with a trackpad — two-finger scroll.
Pan with a mouse — drag an empty area, or hold the middle mouse button and drag from anywhere, even over objects. The middle-button grab never selects or moves what's under your cursor, so it's the fastest way around a busy board.
Move an element to another page — drag it onto another page's frame. It joins that page and comes to the front.
Pages
Click + Page in the page rail to add one. Use the ‹ › arrows on a page tab to reorder, and the icons to duplicate or delete it.
Page order controls PDF export order and the client slideshow.
Set a background colour per page from Background.
Name pages by room. When you create an estimate or invoice from a board, each page becomes a section named after the page — "Living Room", "Primary Bath" — so your document is organised for free.
Templates

Built-in layouts include Finishes Schedule, Concept (Big Idea, Centered quote, Triptych strip, Image + palette), Presentation (6-up, 4-up, 9-up, Hero + supporting, Side by side, Before / After and more), Products (3 across, Feature + specs, 6 slots + title), Finish (Materials board, Swatch row, Color blocks, 3 material tiles), Covers, Editorial collage, Palette story, Shopping List and Mood Board.
Save current page as template adds your own layout under My templates.
Applying a template fills the current page if it's empty, or adds a new page — it never wipes your work.
Adding content
Text — heading/subheading/body presets, a font library and ready-made text combinations. Style it in the inspector.
Elements — tables (Finishes schedule, Table (blank grid)), shapes, paint textures and colour swatches.
Uploads — upload images from your computer or add from a URL (they're saved to your Uploads library for reuse), and the Products picker.

Selecting and arranging: click to select, Shift-click to add, drag an empty area to marquee-select. Resize with corner handles (Shift keeps proportions), rotate with the top handle (Shift snaps to 15°). Align/distribute, group/ungroup (⌘/Ctrl-G), duplicate (⌘/Ctrl-D) and layer order are all available. Lock an element to protect it — it stays selectable so you can unlock it.
Working with images
Select an image to use, in the inspector: crop and mask (rectangle, rounded, circle, arch), filters (brightness, contrast, saturation, grayscale, sepia, blur), flip, lock, layer order, drop shadow, perspective (corner-pin for a mockup look) and remove background (with one-click Restore).
Paint colours and textures
Paint picker — search thousands of real colours from Sherwin-Williams, Benjamin Moore, Farrow & Ball, Dunn-Edwards, Dulux and Valspar. Filter by colour family; the paint code becomes the swatch label. Favourites sync to your account.
Paint textures (Elements → Paint textures) — Blob, Blob + drips, Smear and Sample card. Add one, select it and use Paint color… to fill it from the paint library. Textures render identically on the board, in the client view and in exports. Color swatch adds a flat chip.
Tables and finish schedules
Finishes schedule — a structured product schedule (image, description, spec #, colour/finish, supplier, cost, qty, total, dimensions, lead time). Drag a product onto a row to fill it — columns pull live from the product. Show/hide columns and adjust image size.
Table (blank grid) — set rows, columns and border thickness; double-click a cell to type; drag an image into a cell; drag a paint chip into a cell to build a paint schedule (it drops in the colour's name and number). Drag the dividers to resize.
Products: the board is the spec
Placing Library products
Open Uploads → Products.
If the board is assigned to a project you'll see that project's products; otherwise your whole catalog. Search and filter by vendor, category or location.
Click or drag a product onto the board. It carries its price, SKU, lead time and image. If it has several images, you'll be asked which to place.
Product slots — flag any image frame as a product slot with a category (templates use these). An empty slot shows a dashed "Product slot" placeholder; clicking a product fills it, keeping the frame's size and shape.
Marking any image as a product
Select the image (one you uploaded or added from a URL).
In the inspector, open Product details and turn on This image is a product.
Fill in what you know: name, SKU, quantity, cost, markup % or margin %, lead time, vendor and URL.
It now appears in the Spec panel alongside Library products and flows into estimates and invoices. When you add an image from a URL, Mood remembers that source URL permanently — through crops, background removal and image swaps.
Pricing: cost + markup or margin
Enter a Cost, then either a Markup % or a Margin % — entering one clears and disables the other.
The Sale price is calculated for you: markup → cost × (1 + markup%); margin → cost ÷ (1 − margin%). With neither, sale = cost.
True scale and scale conflicts
Scale (top bar) resizes the current page's products to their true relative size using real-world dimensions, so a sofa and a side table are proportioned correctly.
Scale-conflict warnings — if a product on top is, at true scale, wider than the surface beneath it (a 42″ pendant over a 36″ island), Mood flags it when you run Scale and lists it in the Spec panel.
Products need dimensions (Library products read them automatically); items without dimensions are skipped.
The Spec / schedule panel
Click Spec in the top bar. It lists every product on the board — Library products and images marked as products — grouped by page.

Edit in place: product name, SKU, qty, cost, markup %/margin %. The line Total, overall Totals and Projected margin update live. Editing here tailors this board only — it doesn't change your Library.
Client-approved only limits the list to items the client approved.
CSV downloads the schedule.
Create estimate / Create invoice start a new document with one section per page, carrying your names, quantities, costs and markup/margin. Sourced (non-Library) items come across as manual line items with their board image.
The availability check
In the Spec panel, set a Target install date.
Mood works out when each product will realistically be ready and shows a summary — "NN% available for a [Month] install — X on track, Y arrive after, Z unknown".
Each item's Lead cell is tinted green (on track), red (arrives after) or amber (no lead-time data).
Timing comes from, in order: a concrete date on the product's procurement tab (estimated delivery/shipping or backorder date), the Library lead time, then the lead time typed into This image is a product. The target date is saved on the board.
Brand kit and page sizes
Brand kit — pin your logo on every page and add a repeating footer, with corner/size/alignment controls. It appears on the board, in the client view and in exports.
Page size — click the size in the top bar (e.g. 1280×720) to choose presentation, paper, social or custom sizes. Changing it rescales your layout to fit.
Sharing and client approvals
Click Share (top right).
Tick Anyone with the link — a read-only presentation view, no login needed — and click Copy.
Choose Allow comments (viewers click the board to leave feedback) and Allow product approvals (clients approve/decline products — reflected on the product page).
Click Open presentation view → to see exactly what your client will see.

Your client sees a clean slideshow with page arrows, numbered comment pins, a Comments list, and Approved / Not Approved badges on products.

Back in the editor, open Comments to read comments by page, jump to a page, reply and resolve. Client approvals lock once decided; you can reopen an item from the inspector if needed (this resets that product's status). Manage all board share links from Link Management → Moodboards.
Version history
Mood keeps a snapshot per editing session. Click History to see versions with automatic change notes ("Added 2 images · edited 3 · +1 page"), preview any version and revert. Reverting can itself be undone (⌘/Ctrl-Z).
Exporting
Click Export and choose PDF — all pages, PDF — this page or PNG — this page. Tick High resolution (print) first for print quality. Your brand kit is included.

Real-time collaboration
Collaboration is opt-in. Click Collaborate for a live-editing link; when a teammate joins you'll see their cursor, avatar and selection in real time.
Tips
Name pages by room — they become estimate sections.
Assign the board to its project so you see the right products and documents attach to the client.
Mark web-sourced images as products and fill in cost, markup/margin and lead time.
Run Scale before presenting and clear any conflicts.
Set the install date early and watch the availability number as you swap items.
Approvals first, then Create estimate with Client-approved only ticked.
Lock finished background elements so you don't nudge them.
Troubleshooting
No products in the Products tab. If the board is assigned to a project, only that project's products appear — check or remove the assignment. Products need an image to appear.
Product images are blank. Image links refresh periodically; if a board has been open a long time, reload the page.
"Create estimate/invoice" says there are no products. Client-approved only is ticked — approve items on the share link first, or untick it.
Scale does nothing. The product needs real-world dimensions (e.g. 24 x 36).
Availability shows items as unknown. They have no lead time anywhere — add one.
I can't type in the Sale price. That's intended — it's calculated from cost + markup or margin.
I can't enter both markup and margin. They're mutually exclusive; clear one to use the other.
The board said it "cleaned up duplicates". Normal self-healing — Mood removed duplicate elements and saved a clean version.
FAQ
Can clients edit my board? No — the share link is read-only; they can only comment and approve (if allowed).
Does the client see my costs? No — the client view shows the board, not the Spec panel. Cost and margin stay internal.
Can I put products I found online into the spec? Yes — add the image, turn on This image is a product and fill in the details.
Is collaboration always on? No — it's opt-in via Collaborate.
