Spec Sheets

Tips & Best Practices

Written By Timothy Murenzi

Overview

Checks and habits that make spec sheets and spec books look right the first time.

Before you build a client document

  • Every product has a main image.

  • Client-facing names are filled in (set Layout → Product name to Client-facing or Both).

  • Important notes are reviewed — they print on spec sheets.

  • Prices are current — a downloaded PDF is a snapshot.

  • Branding (logo, font, colours) is set in Settings → Studio → Money → Document look and your company details in Settings → Studio → Company.

Client, Contractor or Studio only

  • Client — selling prices, no costs. For presentations and approvals.

  • Contractor — no prices. For trades and installers.

  • Studio only — adds your cost and markup. Internal use only.

Check the badge next to the file name (for example Client copy) before you download.

Keeping documents up to date

  • A downloaded PDF doesn't change. Save it as a project schedule (Save tab) so you can refresh it with Update schedules, or regenerate it.

  • Tick Add to documents to file it with the project.

  • Use Live link when you want the client to see the current version.

Troubleshooting

  • Logo missing: check Document look → Use the company logo on every document, and that a logo is set in Company.

  • Broken image: re-upload the product's main image and regenerate.

  • Markup showing: you chose Studio only — switch to Client.

  • Wrong order: Layout → Order: By spec # or Your order (the Library's drag order).

  • Only some rooms: filter Rooms in the Content tab.
