Where the money is: batches and deposits

Follow a payment from approved to deposited in your bank, and match batches and deposits to your bank statement.

Written By Julia M.

Overview

Every payment that goes through WorkPay shows where its money is, from the moment it is approved to the day it lands in your bank account.

Watch it: the Finances lesson in Campus, step 4, “Invoice and get paid”, chapter 9, “The Payments page” (starts at 3:21).

Where the money is

Click a payment in Finances › Payments. Where the money is shows each step with its date:

  • Approved for a card, or Started for a bank payment.

  • In a batch, with the batch number.

  • Cleared, for bank payments.

  • On its way to your bank.

  • Deposited, with the account it went to.

What you net

The breakdown shows what was Charged to the client, the WorkPay fee and who paid it, and what is Net to you.

Batches

WorkPay groups payments into batches by day, card and bank separately. The Batch column shows each payment’s batch. On a payment, Batch shows its number, date, how many payments it holds and when it was deposited. Show all lists every payment in that batch.

Deposits

Deposit shows the deposit number, the date, the account it went to and its total. Use it to match your bank statement.

Money out

A WorkPay payout to a vendor or contractor shows the same way: sent, processed, and deposited to their bank, with the ACH trace number.
